Regular Season Round 21: Dnepr - Kirovograd 81-77

Higher League round 21 caused change at the leadership position. Second defeat of league's leader Kirovograd (15-2) against fifth ranked Dnepr (11-6) 81-77 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of Kirovograd. Kirovograd was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 19-12 charge of Dnepr, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for Volodymyr Shevchenko (196-94) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. point guard Maksym Zakurdaev (193-93) contributed with 17 points and 6 assists for the winners. Dnepr's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Quintrell Thomas (203-90, college: UNLV, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Stanislav Ovdeyenko (191-84) added 16 points and 7 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) in the effort for Kirovograd. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Dnepr have a solid series of four victories in a row. Despite that victory Dnepr went down to sixth position due to points difference. Kirovograd at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by SoyuzBasket. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
