Very important is a road loss of third ranked USC Leipzig (10-9) against fifth ranked Licher Baeren (10-9) on Saturday night. Visiting USC Leipzig was crushed by Licher Baeren in Lich 101-81. The game was mostly controlled by Licher Baeren. USC Leipzig was better in third quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Licher Baeren made 21-of-23 charity shots (91.3 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Jermale Jones (186-86, college: Tuskegee) who led the winners and scored 28 points. American-Italian point guard Joseph Fuca (182-89, college: Master's) accounted for 17 points and 7 assists for the winning side. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American-Honduran guard Christopher Flores (188-90, college: NJIT) came up with 23 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized American forward Eric Vierneisel (201-85, college: California) added 14 points respectively for USC Leipzig in the defeat. Five Licher Baeren and four USC Leipzig players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Licher Baeren moved-up to third place in Group South, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated USC Leipzig. USC Leipzig lost their third game in a row. Licher Baeren will play against TV 1862 Langen (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. USC Leipzig will play against the league's leader Hanau (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
