Regular Season Round 17: Bamberg - Halle 73-72

A very interesting game took place in Bamberg. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th placed SV Halle Lions (9-8) to eleventh ranked Don Bosco Bamberg (5-12) 73-72 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of SV Halle Lions. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But SV Halle Lions won fourth quarter 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. International Alina Hartmann (182-95) saved the victory by scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds. American point guard Taleya Mayberry (167-91, college: Tulsa) contributed with 14 points for the winners. American center Ebony Ellis (189-88, college: N.Illinois) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Slovakian Michaela Abelova (184-85) added 16 points in the effort for SV Halle Lions. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Don Bosco Bamberg maintains eleventh place with 5-12 record. SV Halle Lions at the other side keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Don Bosco Bamberg's next round opponent will be higher ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (#5) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SV Halle Lions will play against Eisvogel Freiburg and hope to win that game.
