Regular Season Round 19: Targu Mures - Cluj Napoca 70-57

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Cluj Napoca (2-17) lost on the road to thirteenth ranked Targu Mures (2-16) 70-57. The game was mostly controlled by Targu Mures. Cluj Napoca was better in third quarter 16-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Targu Mures players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Lashantel Wilson (175) who led her team to a victory scoring 8 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Her fellow American import guard Danielle Walker (178-86, college: Clark Atlanta) helped adding 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side forward Flavia Ferenczi (175-91) responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Florina Pascalau (196-82) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Cluj Napoca's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Targu Mures moved-up to twelfth place. Cluj Napoca lost twelfth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. Targu Mures will play against higher ranked Timisoara (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cluj Napoca will play against Craiova (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
