Regular Season Round 17: Braunschweig - Hagen Phoenix 83-73

Rather expected game when 9th ranked Hagen Phoenix (7-10) lost on the road to sixth ranked Braunschweig (9-8) 83-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Braunschweig. Hagen Phoenix was better in fourth quarter 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Braunschweig made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Hagen Phoenix turnovers. Point guard Britta Hueske-Boecher (176) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Alysha Womack (170-91, college: Monmouth) contributed with 25 points, 5 assists and 7 steals for the winners. Braunschweig's coach Andreas Hundt used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Erica Hayes (170, college: Dixie St.) answered with 25 points and swingman Elina Stahmeyer (180-91) added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Hagen Phoenix. Braunschweig moved-up to fifth place in North, which they share with Gruenberg. Hagen Phoenix lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with ten games lost. Braunschweig will face TG Neuss (#9) at home in the next round. Hagen Phoenix will play against Koeln and hope to win that game.
