There was a minor upset when 14th ranked Istanbul DSI (7-14) was edged at home by sixteenth ranked Pertevniyal (6-15) 77-74 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 27-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Istanbul DSI outrebounded Pertevniyal 49-36 including 20 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Pertevniyal made 7 blocks. Istanbul DSI was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Nicholas Covington (188-85, college: Oklahoma City) who scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Burak Can Yildizli (202-94) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Covington is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Pertevniyal's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall, agency: Two Points) who recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists and Croatian power forward Nenad Delic (210-84, agency: Alti Sport) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pertevniyal maintains sixteenth place with 6-15 record. Newly promoted Istanbul DSI dropped to the fifteenth position with 14 games lost.
