Regular Season Round 15: Oliveirense - CAB Madeira 80-57

The game between third ranked CAB Madeira (8-6) and seventh ranked Oliveirense (7-9) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. CAB Madeira was crushed by Oliveirense in Oliveira 80-57. The game was mostly controlled by Oliveirense. CAB Madeira managed to win second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Oliveirense especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was forward Joao Soares (202-90, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Renato Azevedo (186-91) chipped in 22 points. Oliveirense's coach Rui Alves felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Jorge Freitas (182-88) who recorded 15 points and 6 assists and the former international swingman Fabio Lima (197-88) added 10 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively. Newly promoted Oliveirense maintains seventh place with 7-9 record. CAB Madeira at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Oliveirense are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Academica (#12) in Coimbra in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. CAB Madeira will play at home against Barcelos (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
