Fifth-ranked Botas (11-9) gave a tough game to second ranked Fenerbahce (18-2) in Adana on Saturday. The visitors from Istanbul managed to secure only one-point victory 80-79. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Botas. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime then Botas managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Fenerbahce who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 6-5. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Botas' 34. Worth to mention a great performance of American Angel McCoughtry (187-86, college: Louisville) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Cappie Pondexter (175-83, college: Rutgers) who added 20 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. American center Michelle Snow (196-80, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 17 rebounds and naturalized American swingman Barbara Turner (183-84, college: Connecticut, agency: 1x1 Sports) scored 26 points. Fenerbahce have an impressive 16-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 18-2 record behind leader Galatasaray. Botas at the other side keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Fenerbahce will face Konak (#12) in Izmir in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Botas will play on the road against Canik Bld (#10) in Samsun and hope to win that game.
