Regular Season Round 27: Naestved - Aalborg 78-66

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Aalborg's (8-13) road loss to sixth ranked Naestved (10-12) 66-78. It looked good early as Aalborg took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Naestved had a 24-10 second period charge getting the lead and Aalborg was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-78. Naestved made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Brazilian forward Matao de Souza (201-86, college: Idaho) who led the winners and scored 21 points. Canadian-British point guard Alex Murphy (185-88) accounted for 26 points for the winning side. American forward Joe Burton (201-90, college: Oregon St.) came up with 23 points and 9 rebounds and Trinidad and Tobago-Canadian point guard Joey Haywood (185-84, college: St.Mary's) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Aalborg in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Naestved maintains sixth place with 10-12 record. Aalborg lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 13 games lost. They share it with Horsholm. Naestved will play against higher ranked Svendborg (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aalborg will play against Falcon (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
