Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Kirchheim Knights (12-11) won against at home 14th ranked Magdeburg (6-17) 90-76 on Sunday. It was a great shooting night for Kirchheim Knights especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 62.5 percentage. Magdeburg was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American point guard Bryan Smithson (183-85, college: NC-Asheville, agency: The House of Baller!Stars) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 assists. Forward Max Rockmann (198-88, college: UMKC) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. American forward Leonard Washington (201-88, college: Wyoming, agency: Two Points) produced 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the other American import point guard Lamar Morinia (183-81, college: MSU-Northern) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Chemnitz. Newly promoted Magdeburg keeps the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Kirchheim Knights will face bottom-ranked BG Karlsruhe (#16) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Magdeburg will play against Science City Jena and hope to win that game.
