Eighteenth-ranked Walter Tigers (4-17) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Brose Baskets (17-3) in Tuebingen on Sunday. The visitors from Bamberg managed to secure only two-point victory 86-84. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Walter Tigers won fourth quarter 29-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Brose Baskets made 25-of-27 free shots (92.6 percent) during the game. It was a good game for naturalized Slovakian point guard Anton Gavel (189-84, agency: Pro One Sports) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 5 assists. Trinidad and Tobago-American center D'or Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Brose Baskets' coach Chris Fleming used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Daequan Cook (196-87, college: Ohio St.) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Alex Harris (196-86, agency: Interperformances) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Walter Tigers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Brose Baskets have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 17-3 record having just three points less than leader B.Muenchen. Walter Tigers at the other side stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Brose Baskets are looking forward to face ratiopharm Ulm (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Walter Tigers will play against the league's leader Bayern Muenchen (#1) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
