Very predictable result when third ranked Istanbul Universitesi (16-4) smashed at home 9th ranked Ceyhan Bld (7-13) 94-63 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Istanbul Universitesi. Ceyhan Bld was better in fourth quarter 18-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ceyhan Bld 40-27 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Istanbul Universitesi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Ceyhan Bld's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Crystal Langhorne (188-86, college: Maryland) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Saziye Ivegin (183-82) who added 16 points and 4 assists during the contest. Five Istanbul Universitesi players scored in double figures. Istanbul Universitesi's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Ceyda Kozluca (179-84) responded with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Asena Yalcin (172-91) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Istanbul Universitesi maintains third position with 16-4 record having just three points less than leader Galatasaray. Ceyhan Bld at the other side keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. Istanbul Universitesi will face Orduspor (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Ceyhan Bld will play against the league's leader Galatasaray and hope to win that game.
