The most interesting game of round 17 was a home defeat of 4th placed ChemCats Chemnitz (9-8) to third ranked Herner TC (10-7) 92-82 in the game for the third place. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 30-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Herner TC made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American point guard Quenese Davis (177-88, college: San Diego St.) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and Czech guard Katarina Flasarova (171-85) chipped in 21 points. Herner TC's coach Marek Piotrowski used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Candace Williams (184-88, college: New Hampshire) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Dutch power forward Fieke Ligthart (185-90) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Herner TC have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 10-7 record having six points less than leader Wasserburg. ChemCats Chemnitz lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Marburg and Halle. Herner TC are looking forward to face Oberhausen (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ChemCats Chemnitz will play against TV Saarlouis Royals (#7) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
