Regular Season Round 21: Juventus - Siauliai 70-67

The most exciting game of round 21 in the LKL took place in Utena. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Siauliai (10-11) to eighth ranked Juventus (9-13) 70-67 on Tuesday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-13. But Siauliai won second period 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Juventus won last quarter 18-17. They also forced 19 Siauliai turnovers. It was a good game for forward Saulius Kulvietis (203-91) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 6 rebounds. American forward AJ Matthews (216-89, college: Farmingdale St.) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American guard Travis Leslie (193-90, college: Georgia) answered with 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and the other American import point guard Derek Needham (180-90, college: Fairfield) added 15 points in the effort for Siauliai. Juventus moved-up to seventh place. Siauliai lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 11 games lost. Juventus are looking forward to face higher ranked Zalgiris (#6) in Kaunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Siauliai will play on the road against Nevezis in Kedainiai and is hoping to win this game.
