Regular Season Round 20: DniproAzot - Mykolaiv 67-71

Very expected game when 14th ranked DniproAzot (2-16) lost to ninth ranked Mykolaiv (9-10) in Dniprodzerzhynsk 67-71. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-14. But DniproAzot won second period 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mykolaiv players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Polish point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (179-84) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Latvian swingman Mareks Jurevicus (197-85) who added 17 points during the contest. American point guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St.) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Yaroslav Zubrytskyi (202-74) scored 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mykolaiv moved-up to eighth place, which they share with BC Kyiv. DniproAzot lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Mykolaiv will play against higher ranked Budivelnyk (#3) in Kyiv in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. DniproAzot will play at home against Hoverla (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
