Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Utena (7-15) was outscored by second ranked H-Sirenos (19-4) in Kaunas 71-48 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by H-Sirenos. Utena was better in third quarter 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. H-Sirenos dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Utena's 26. It was a very good performance for the former international point guard Santa Okockyte (175-92) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds. Kornelija Balciunaite (176-81) contributed with 8 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists and 9 steals for the winners. International center Kristina Alminaite (205-90) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and guard Rita Zilinskaite (175-92) added 15 points in the effort for Utena. H-Sirenos maintains second position with 19-4 record having just three points less than leader Kibirkstis-VICI. Loser Utena keeps the sixth place with 15 games lost. H-Sirenos will face bottom-ranked Ruta-Univ. (#8) in Siauliai in the next round where they are favorite. Utena will play at home against Fortuna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
