Second Stage Round 1: Stevnsgade - Vaerlose 84-54

The biggest surprise of round 1 in Dameligaen took place in Stevnsgade where host Stevnsgade (1-0) crushed Vaerlose (0-1) 84-54 on Friday evening. They outrebounded Vaerlose 44-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. American forward Julie Forster (185-91, college: Albany) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 22 rebounds for the winners. Her fellow American import swingman Sarah Eichler (182-91, college: Green Bay) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Stevnsgade players scored in double figures. Canadian center Janet Hatfield (190-85) produced 13 points and 8 rebounds and forward Alberte Dokkedal (186-91) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vaerlose will play next round against strong Aabyhoj trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Stevnsgade will try to continue on its current victory against Falcon on the road.
