Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Fortuna (12-11) rolled over bottom-ranked Ruta-Univ. (0-22) in Klaipeda 73-39 on Friday. The game without a history. Fortuna led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ruta-Univ. to just 2 points in second quarter and to 14 points in first half. They outrebounded Ruta-Univ. 48-32 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fortuna looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Ruta-Univ.'s players. It was a very good performance for international Monika Grigalauskyte (190-92) who helped to win the game recording 7 points and 12 rebounds. Center Justina Matuzonyte (195-94) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Fortuna's coach Ramune Kumpiene felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Ieva Kazlauskaite (178-94) replied with 10 points and 8 rebounds and Belarusian point guard Katsiaryna Kashlei (171-90) added 11 points and 4 steals in the effort for Ruta-Univ.Fortuna maintains fourth position with 12-11 record. Loser Ruta-Univ. still closes the standings. Fortuna will face Utena (#6) on the road in the next round. Ruta-Univ. will play against Aistes-LSU and hopes to get finally their first victory.
