Regular Season Round 18: Herner - Oberhausen 73-81

The most important game in the last round took place in Herne between third ranked Herner TC (10-8) and tenth ranked Oberhausen (7-11) on Saturday night. Herner TC was defeated by Oberhausen in a tough game at home 73-81. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Herner TC. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Herner TC won third quarter 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Oberhausen made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Monique Reid (185-90, college: Louisville) who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Fijian guard Valerie Nainima (168-86, college: S.Carolina) chipped in 18 points. Four Oberhausen players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Quenese Davis (177-88, college: San Diego St.) who recorded 20 points and 8 rebounds and her fellow American import power forward Teya Wright (185-89, college: Providence) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oberhausen moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Freiburg and Donau-Ries. Herner TC at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Oberhausen is looking forward to face higher ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Herner TC will play against Don Bosco Bamberg and is hoping to win this game.
