Regular Season Round 21: Orduspor - Istanbul Univ. 82-78

The game between third ranked Istanbul Universitesi (16-5) and ninth ranked Orduspor (8-13) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Istanbul Universitesi was defeated by Orduspor in a tough game in Ordu 78-82. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Istanbul Universitesi won third quarter 27-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Istanbul Universitesi outrebounded Orduspor 42-30 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Gizem Yavuz (170-88) who scored 21 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American forward Avery Warley (190-87, college: Liberty) chipped in 9 points and 16 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Tugba Palazoglu (171-80) who recorded 21 points and American power forward Crystal Langhorne (188-86, college: Maryland) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four Orduspor and five Istanbul Universitesi players scored in double figures. Orduspor moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Besiktas. Istanbul Universitesi at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Orduspor is looking forward to face league's leader Galatasaray in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Istanbul Universitesi will play at home against Tarsus Bld and is hoping to win this game.
