Regular Season Round 16: Lusitania - Ovarense 77-68

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when ninth ranked Lusitania (6-8) beat 8th ranked Ovarense (6-9) in Angra 77-68 on Saturday. Ovarense was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The winners were led by American point guard Jaime Smith (191-89, college: Al.-Huntsville) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 assists and the other American import center Marcel Momplaisir (205-81, college: Rhode Island, agency: Dynamics Global Management) supported him with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) by Spanish power forward Sergi Coll (204-82) did not help to save the game for Ovarense. The former international forward Miguel Miranda (205-78, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 16 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Lusitania moved-up to eighth place. Loser Ovarense dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. Lusitania will meet league's second-placed Vitoria SC in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Ovarense will play against CAB Madeira (#3) and hope to secure a win.
