Regular Season Round 17: Leotar - Spars Sarajevo 79-67

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Leotar (8-9) beat second-ranked Spars Sarajevo (12-5) in Trebinje 79-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Leotar. Spars Sarajevo was better in third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leotar dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Spars Sarajevo's 38. They outrebounded Spars Sarajevo 35-17 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Montenegrin guard Milorad Sutulovic (196-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points. Center Djordje Ninkovic (210-93) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Leotar players scored in double figures. Leotar's coach Marko Icelic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Igor Josipovic (205-88) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) and Stefan Glogovac (205-94) added 16 points in the effort for Spars Sarajevo. Leotar moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Bosna and Gradanski. Newly promoted Spars Sarajevo keeps the second position with five games lost. Leotar will face higher ranked Varda HE (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Spars Sarajevo will play against Posusje and hope to win that game.
