Rather predictable result when Cankaya (2-0) defeated on the road Bursa BSB (0-2) 85-70 on Saturday. Bursa BSB was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Bursa BSB 48-30 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bursa BSB was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Sharon Houston (191-88, college: Indiana NW) had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 22 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and center Gulcin Cantekin (187-84) chipped in 20 points and 5 assists during the contest. American forward Alyssia Brewer (190-90, college: UCLA) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and Seyma Kutun (-93) scored 15 points. Four Bursa BSB players scored in double figures. Cankaya will face Gure (#3) in Balikesir in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Bursa BSB will play at home against Anadolu Univ. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
