There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Weiterstadt (8-10) rolled over at home 6th ranked ASC Theresianum Mainz (8-10) 83-64 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Weiterstadt. ASC Theresianum Mainz was better in second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Weiterstadt forced 23 ASC Theresianum Mainz turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by ASC Theresianum Mainz's players. It was a good game for Elisabeth Beiter who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 20 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. American guard Heather Karner (180-86, college: Youngstown St.) contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Five Weiterstadt players scored in double figures. Forward Eva Marschall (180-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and forward Lilian Koch (180-90) added 19 points in the effort for ASC Theresianum Mainz. Weiterstadt moved-up to sixth place in South, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated ASC Theresianum Mainz. Weiterstadt will face Fellbach (#12) in the next round where they are favorite.
