Very expected game when 18th ranked Hacettepe (3-20) was crushed on the road by twelfth ranked ITU Istanbul (11-11) 84-53 on Tuesday. ITU Istanbul dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Hacettepe's 26. They outrebounded Hacettepe 52-37 including 17 on the offensive glass. ITU Istanbul looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Hacettepe's players. It was a great evening for guard Dogan Yavuz (193-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 5 assists. Naturalized Bulgarian forward Musa Gunes (200-85) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Berkay Demirci (-91) responded with 15 points and 4 assists and center Eyup Aydogan (206-89) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. ITU Istanbul moved-up to tenth place. Hacettepe lost their seventeenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 20 lost games. ITU Istanbul will face Antalya (#11) on the road in the next round. Hacettepe will play against Vestel (#4) and hope to win that game.
