Second Stage Round 2: Vaerlose - Aabyhoj 80-73

The biggest surprise of round 2 in Dameligaen took place in Vaerlose where host Vaerlose (1-1) beat Aabyhoj (1-1) 80-73 on Thursday evening. Aabyhoj trailed by 14 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 20-12 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 73-80 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Devon Quattrochi (168-91, college: Smith) who scored 17 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Naturalized Saudi Arabian guard Hanna Sheikh (180-92) chipped in 26 points. Four Vaerlose players scored in double figures. Guard Maria Jespersen (182-94) produced 29 points and American center Britt Harris (188-91, college: W.Washington) added 23 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aabyhoj will play next round against strong Stevnsgade trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Vaerlose will try to continue on its current victory against Falcon at home.
