There was a minor upset when Zepter Vienna (16-7) was outscored on the road by Kapfenberg Bulls (16-7) 95-52 on Saturday. The game without a history. Kapfenberg Bulls led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Zepter Vienna's 20. They outrebounded Zepter Vienna 41-17 including a 30-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kapfenberg Bulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Zepter Vienna's players. It was a good game for American swingman Shawn Ray (194-80, college: N.C.Central) who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). American-Mexican forward Mark Sanchez (201-87, college: Boise St., agency: Court Side) contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Kapfenberg Bulls players scored in double figures. The former international Jason Detrick (195-80, college: Oklahoma, agency: Three Eye Sports) answered with 12 points and Serbian center Nenad Sulovic (202-85) added 9 points in the effort for Zepter Vienna. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kapfenberg Bulls will face Gussing Knights on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Zepter Vienna will play against Xion Dukes in Klosterneuburg and hope to win that game.
