Regular Season Round 24: Antalya - I.T.U. 74-76

Date: March 1, 2014
A very interesting game took place in Antalya. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 11th ranked Antalya (11-13) to tenth ranked ITU Istanbul (12-11) 76-74 on Saturday evening. Antalya was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 24-17 third quarter run of ITU Istanbul. The winners were led by American forward Isiah Brown (203-89, college: E.Tenn.St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and naturalized Bulgarian forward Musa Gunes (200-85) supported him with 12 points and 8 rebounds. ITU Istanbul's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 27 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists by American guard Henry Antwan Dobie (183-78, college: LIU Brooklyn) did not help to save the game for Antalya. His fellow American import forward Damien Kinloch (203-80, college: Tenn Tech) added 17 points and 12 rebounds. Four Antalya players scored in double figures. ITU Istanbul moved-up to eighth place. Antalya lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 13 games lost. ITU Istanbul's next round opponent will be higher ranked Pamukkale (#5) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Antalya will play against Vestel (#4) in Manisa and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the TBL just one year after relegation.
