Regular Season Round 19: Wolfenbuettel - Hagen Phoenix 81-65

Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (9-10) beat at home 11th ranked Hagen Phoenix (7-12) 81-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel. Hagen Phoenix was better in third quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel forced 30 Hagen Phoenix turnovers. It was a great evening for American guard Iwalani Rodrigues (175, college: Utah) who led her team to a victory scoring 26 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Her fellow American import forward Savannah Stedman (188-89, college: Northwestern) helped adding 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. At the losing side swingman Elina Stahmeyer (180-91) responded with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Erica Hayes (170, college: Dixie St.) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Four Hagen Phoenix players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel moved-up to seventh place in North. Hagen Phoenix lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel will face higher ranked Braunschweig (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hagen Phoenix will play against Lichterfelde (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
