Very important is a home loss of second ranked Rhein Main Baskets (12-7) against fourth ranked SV Halle Lions (11-8) on Sunday night. Host Rhein Main Baskets were crushed by SV Halle Lions in Langen 92-67. The game was mostly controlled by SV Halle Lions. Rhein Main Baskets was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SV Halle Lions made 26-of-29 charity shots (89.7 percent) during the game, while Rhein Main Baskets only scored ten points from the stripe. SV Halle Lions forced 25 Rhein Main Baskets turnovers and outrebounded them 36-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Tiffany Porter-Talbert (177-84, college: W.Kentucky) who led her team to a victory scoring 19 points and 9 rebounds. The former international power forward Katharina Fikiel (194-87) helped adding 16 points and 8 rebounds. Five SV Halle Lions players scored in double figures. SV Halle Lions' coach Patrick Baer felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Denise Beliveau (180-89, college: New Hampshire) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Alyssa Karel (172-89, college: Wisconsin) scored 21 points and 5 assists. SV Halle Lions moved-up to third place, which they share with Marburg and Herner. Rhein Main Baskets lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with seven games lost. SV Halle Lions will play against Osnabruck (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rhein Main Baskets will play against BC Pharmaserv Marburg (#5) and hope to get back on the winning track.
