There was no surprise in Istanbul where 9th ranked Tofas (9-11) was defeated by second ranked Fenerbahce Ulker (16-4) 70-59 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-59. Worth to mention a great performance of American-FYR Macedonian point guard Bo McCalebb (178-85, college: New Orleans) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 assists and Montenegrin center Blagota Sekulic (209-82) who added 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Nigerian power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) responded with 10 points and 7 rebounds and Slovenian forward Jure Balazic (204-80) scored 14 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fenerbahce Ulker have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-4 record having just three points less than leader Banvit BK. Loser Tofas keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Royal Hali. Fenerbahce Ulker will meet Turk Telekom (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tofas will play against Karsiyaka and hope to secure a win.
