Regular Season Round 23: Nevezis - Juventus 69-67

A very close game took place in Kedainiai between Nevezis and Juventus. Ninth ranked Nevezis (9-14) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Juventus (9-15). Nevezis managed to escape with a 2-point win 69-67 on Tuesday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-14. But Juventus won second period 25-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for Tauras Jogela (203-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Povilas Butkevicius (203-87, agency: Players Group) helped adding 15 points. American forward AJ Matthews (216-89, college: Farmingdale St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and Russian forward Nikita Barinov (203-91) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Juventus players scored in double figures. Nevezis moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Dzukija. Loser Juventus dropped to the ninth position with 15 games lost. Nevezis will meet higher ranked Zalgiris (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Juventus will play against Lietkabelis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
