The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Gussing Knights (18-6) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (17-7) 81-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gussing Knights. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Gussing Knights were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Kapfenberg Bulls forced 20 Gussing Knights turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Shawn Ray (194-80, college: N.C.Central) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and American-Mexican forward Mark Sanchez (201-87, college: Boise St., agency: Court Side) who added 10 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Five Kapfenberg Bulls players scored in double figures. Kapfenberg Bulls' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kapfenberg Bulls have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Gmunden. Gussing Knights at the other side still keep top position with six games lost. Kapfenberg Bulls is looking forward to face Raiffeisen Wels (#6) at home in the next round. Gussing Knights will play against Zepter Vienna (#4) in Wien and are hoping to win this game.
