There was no surprise in Frankivsk where 9th ranked Hoverla (9-10) was defeated by third ranked BC Odessa (14-8) 87-81 on Friday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 47-39 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. BC Odessa looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. It was a great evening for the former international Andriy Agafonov (208-86, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international swingman Rostyslav Kryvych (197-78) helped adding 24 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. BC Odessa's coach Oleg Yushkin used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Yurii Frasenyuk (200-86) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Russian center Dmitri Lipovtsev (207-86) scored 16 points. Four Hoverla players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for BC Odessa. They maintain third place with 14-8 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Khimik. Loser Hoverla keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. BC Odessa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hoverla will play against Mykolaiv (#10) in Mykolaiv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
