There was no surprise when 4th ranked Izmir BSB (1-3) was edged at home by top-ranked Mersin Univ. (4-0) 61-59 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Mersin Univ. outrebounded Izmir BSB 51-33 including a 24-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Ukrainian center Elena Staschuk (192-85, agency: LBM Management) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. Guard Ilknur Dumlu (176-89) chipped in 10 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Mersin Univ.'s coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Hande Celebi (-90) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Eyfel Akar (-87) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. They have a solid four-game winning streak. Mersin Univ. keeps a position of Group F leader, which they share with Edirne. Izmir BSB at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Mersin Univ. will face league's leader Edirne at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Izmir BSB's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Izmir to the arena Izmir Eda.
