Very expected game when 9th ranked Eisvogel Freiburg (7-13) was defeated on the road by third ranked Herner TC (12-8) 87-74 on Saturday. The game without a history. Herner TC led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Teya Wright (185-89, college: Providence) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Lisa Koop (197-85, college: Winthrop) who added 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Herner TC's coach Marek Piotrowski used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Brooque Williams (175-89, college: California, PA) responded with 26 points and 9 rebounds and her fellow American import point guard Bianca Simmons (168, college: Mass.-Lowell) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Herner TC moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Eisvogel Freiburg lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. Herner TC will face Rhein Main Baskets (#5) in Langen in the next round. Eisvogel Freiburg will play at home against ChemCats Chemnitz (#6) and hope to win that game.
