Regular Season Round 20: Heidelberg - Bad Aibling 64-66

The most exciting game of round 20 in the 2.Bundesliga took place in Heidelberg. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers BasCats Heidelberg (13-7) to second ranked Bad Aibling (16-4) 66-64 in the game for the second place. BasCats Heidelberg was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 17-14 charge of Bad Aibling, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Serbian guard Julijana Kancevic (168-86) who scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Carla Bellscheidt (183-94) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Bad Aibling players scored in double figures. American center Erica Carlson (193-88, college: Dixie St.) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks and her fellow American import point guard Serena Benavente (167-85, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 16 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Bad Aibling maintains second position in South with 16-4 record behind leader BG 89 Avides. BasCats Heidelberg at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. Bad Aibling are looking forward to face Rhein MB II (#10) in Langen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BasCats Heidelberg will play on the road against TG 1889 Sandhausen (#8) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
