The game between third ranked ALBA Berlin (17-7) and fourth ranked EWE Baskets (18-7) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. ALBA Berlin was defeated by EWE Baskets in a tough game in Oldenburg 73-82. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-73. It was a great shooting night for EWE Baskets especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. American point guard Julius Jenkins (187-81, college: Georgia South, agency: Pro One Sports) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and his fellow American import guard Chris Kramer (191-88, college: Purdue) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side American swingman Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) responded with 23 points and FYR Macedonian guard Vojdan Stojanovski (194-87, agency: Beo Basket) scored 12 points (made all of his eight free throws). Four ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. EWE Baskets moved-up to third place. ALBA Berlin at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. EWE Baskets are looking forward to face Mitteldeutscher BC (#9) in Weissenfels in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. ALBA Berlin will play at home against the league's second-placed Brose Baskets (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
