Second Stage Round 4: Stevnsgade - Aabyhoj 73-63

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Stevnsgade as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Stevnsgade defeated top-ranked Aabyhoj at home 73-63. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It looked good early as Aabyhoj took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Stevnsgade had a 20-15 second period charge getting the lead and Aabyhoj was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 63-73. Stevnsgade brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Julie Forster (185-91, college: Albany) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points, 18 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 blocks. Forward Iben Soltau (186-86, college: St.Bonaventure) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Maria Jespersen (182-94) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Bianca Morsoe (178-89) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Aabyhoj. Aabyhoj's coach Thomas Johansen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Aabyhoj at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with SISU and Falcon. Aabyhoj will play next round against strong Vaerlose trying to get back on the winning streak. Stevnsgade will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Falcon at home.
