Proliga top team - Illiabum (19-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Leca (2-18) 88-53. It looked good early as Leca took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Illiabum had a 22-9 second period charge getting the lead and Leca was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 53-88. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Leca to just 6 points in third quarter. Illiabum dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Leca's 28. Illiabum forced 26 Leca turnovers and outrebounded them 38-25 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a quality performance of power forward Mario Goncalves (208-80) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Croatian forward Filip Toric (201-89, college: Barry) who added 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Illiabum players scored in double figures. Naturalized Angolan forward Paulo Ferreira (187-80) responded with 10 points and 7 rebounds and Hugo Gomes (-89) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Illiabum have an impressive 16-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-1 record. Leca at the other side stay dead last with 18 lost games. Illiabum will play against Sangalhos (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leca will play against Guifoes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
