Regular Season Round 23: Botas - Mersin 59-66

Date: March 8, 2014
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Adana where sixth ranked Mersin (13-10) defeated 5th ranked Botas (13-10) 66-59 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-14. But Botas won second period 16-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mersin dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Botas' 26. The best player for the winners was American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. The former international forward Gokce Dogan (175-86) chipped in 11 points. Mersin's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Michelle Snow (196-80, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Hungarian power forward Anna Vadja (191-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Mersin moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Botas. Mersin will meet at home Konak (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Botas will play against Antakya (#8) in Hatay and hope to secure a win.
