Second Stage Round 4: Falcon - Vaerlose 68-59

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Falcon. Third ranked Falcon faced one of their biggest challengers Vaerlose. Host Falcon (2-2) defeated guests from Vaerlose (1-3) 68-59. It looked good early as Vaerlose took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Falcon had a 22-12 second period charge getting the lead and Vaerlose was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 59-68. Falcon had a 22-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Sofie Vincents (174-87) who scored that evening 22 points and 4 assists and guard Elisabeth Hansen (176-93) supported her with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) by Marian Sheikh (180-94) did not help to save the game for Vaerlose. Forward Alberte Dokkedal (186-91) added 11 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Falcon moved-up to second place, which they share with SISU and Aabyhoj. Vaerlose at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Falcon's next round opponent will be league's leader Stevnsgade on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vaerlose will play against the league's second-placed Aabyhoj and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
