Regular Season Round 27: Avangard - Khimik-2 82-75

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Khimik-2's (11-7) road loss to fifth ranked Avangard (13-5) 75-82 on Sunday. Khimik-2 trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 12 after three quarters before a 23-18 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 75-82 at the end of the game. Avangard outrebounded Khimik-2 40-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for forward Egor Maslyuchenko (200-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. point guard Pavlo Tsiopych (180-86) helped adding 11 points and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was Viacheslav Petrov (203-94) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Olexandr Belikov (200-92) scored 18 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Avangard have a solid series of four victories in a row. Newly promoted Avangard maintains fifth place with 13-5 record. Khimik-2 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Avangard are looking forward to face higher ranked Avantazh-Politekhnik (#3) in Kharkov in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Khimik-2 will have a break next round.
