Regular Season Round 20: Sangalhos - Ginasio 74-80

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Ginasio (13-6) beat on the road 9th ranked Sangalhos (7-12) 80-74. It looked good early as Sangalhos took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Ginasio had a 26-17 second period charge getting the lead and Sangalhos were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-80. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Jose Costa (187-73) who scored 21 points, 9 assists and 6 steals. International center Marco Goncalves (206-84) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Luis Fonte (191-79) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Emanuel Silva (188-79) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Sangalhos players scored in double figures. Ginasio maintains third position with 13-6 record having seven points less than leader Illiabum. Sangalhos at the other side keep the ninth place with 12 games lost. Ginasio's next round opponent will be league's second-placed FC Porto Ferpinta at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sangalhos will play against the league's leader Illiabum (#1) in Ilhavo and hope to win that game.
