Regular Season Round 24: Timisoara - Galati 76-75

The most exciting game of round 24 in the Liga Nationala took place in Timisoara. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Galati (10-14) to ninth ranked Timisoara (11-13) 76-75 in the game for the eighth place. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 46-44 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Timisoara made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. The best for the losing side was American forward Earnesia Williams (185-87, college: Texas) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and her fellow American import power forward Starr Fairbanks (191-87, college: Oklahoma City) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Timisoara moved-up to eighth place. Newly promoted Galati dropped to the ninth position with 14 games lost. Timisoara are looking forward to face Cluj Napoca (#12) on the road in the next round. Galati will play against the league's second-placed Alba Iulia where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
