Regular Season Round 27: Avantazh-Pol. - Koksokh-Stal 89-62
Date: March 10, 2014
Very predictable result in Kharkov where fourth ranked Avantazh-Politekhnik (15-3) smashed 14th ranked Koksokh-Stal (2-16) 89-62 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Avantazh-Politekhnik. Koksokh-Stal managed to win fourth quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Avantazh-Politekhnik dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Koksokh-Stal's 30. It was a great evening for the former international Timur Arabadgi (192-81) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Forward Anton Mikhailov (192-91) helped adding 16 points. The best for the losing side was swingman Boris Berezyuk (197-87) with 23 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Jan Selivanov (201-79) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Avantazh-Politekhnik have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Koksokh-Stal lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Pulsar. Avantazh-Politekhnik are looking forward to face Avangard (#5) in Kyiv in the next round. Koksokh-Stal will play on the road against Musson (#8) in Symferopil and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
