There was no surprise when 6th ranked Raiffeisen Wels (12-13) were defeated on the road by third ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (18-7) 83-74 on Monday. Raiffeisen Wels trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 20-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 74-83 at the end of the game. Kapfenberg Bulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Martin Kohlmaier (217-84) who scored 29 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). American swingman Shawn Ray (194-80, college: N.C.Central) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Kapfenberg Bulls' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international Davor Lamesic (205-83, agency: Interperformances) produced 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Kelly Beidler (199-88, college: Mt.St.Mary's) added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Five Raiffeisen Wels players scored in double figures. Kapfenberg Bulls have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Gmunden. Raiffeisen Wels lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Kapfenberg Bulls will face again Raiffeisen Wels (#6) on the road in the next round.
