Regular Season Round 21: Banvit BK - Galatasaray 83-72

An interesting game for Banvit BK (20-1) which hosted in Balikesir 4th placed Galatasaray (14-7). First ranked Banvit BK managed to get a 11-point victory 83-72. The game was mostly controlled by Banvit BK. Galatasaray managed to win third quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-16 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. It was a good game for Dominican-American guard Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 6 rebounds. American-Bulgarian guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Banvit BK's coach Dimitris Itoudis used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian Zoran Erceg (210-85) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds and Puerto Rican point guard Carlos Arroyo (188-79, college: FIU, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points in the effort for Galatasaray. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Banvit BK have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 20-1 record. Defending champion Galatasaray keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Banvit BK are looking forward to face league's second-placed Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Galatasaray will play at home against Selcuk Universitesi and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
