Regular Season Round 24: LSU-Atletas - P.Zvaigzdes 65-91

No shocking result in a game when second ranked P.Zvaigzdes (15-11) crushed bottom-ranked LSU-Atletas (3-22) in Kaunas 91-65. The game was mostly controlled by P.Zvaigzdes. LSU-Atletas was better in second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. P.Zvaigzdes dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to LSU-Atletas' 30. P.Zvaigzdes forced 19 LSU-Atletas turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Marshawn Powell (201-90, college: Arkansas) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and center Egidijus Dimsa (205-85) who added 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five P.Zvaigzdes players scored in double figures. P.Zvaigzdes' coach Rimantas Grigas felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was power forward Sarunas Beniusis (206-93) with 14 points and 7 rebounds and center Tomas Urbonas (215-92) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. P.Zvaigzdes maintains second position with 15-11 record having four points less than leader Tonybet. LSU-Atletas lost fifteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. P.Zvaigzdes will play against league's leader Tonybet in Prienai in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. LSU-Atletas will play on the road against Siauliai (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
