Very expected game when 14th ranked Craiova (1-23) was crushed at home by tenth ranked Rapid (8-16) 86-62. The game was mostly controlled by Rapid. Craiova was better in third quarter 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Craiova to just 7 points in second quarter. Rapid forced 29 Craiova turnovers and outrebounded them 41-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by the former international guard Florina Diaconu (170-82) who scored that evening 31 points and 8 rebounds and guard Monica Nicolaescu (167-83) supported her with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals. Rapid's coach Dan Militaru felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 22 points and 8 rebounds by swingman Irina Bors (178-88) did not help to save the game for Craiova. Forward Janina Simionca (176-84) added 20 points. Rapid maintains tenth position with 8-16 record. Craiova lost twentieth second consecutive game. They stay dead last with 23 lost games. Rapid will play against higher ranked Alexandria (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Craiova will play against Oradea (#11) in Oradea to get more than just one victory in their record.
